Monthly Review - September 2024

September 2024

After coming back from our holidays we've all hit the ground running again, maybe a week or two of being rusty but quickly getting into the swing of auction life again. Everything working in harmony, or as much as it can in our chaotic little world anyway. The best-selling item in September was a pair of Sevres-style biscuit porcelain vases decorated with goat and grapevine handles, with cherub relief. This beautiful lot sold for £1100, and like all items selling for this much seemed to get a little bidding war going. This just goes to show that we're continuing to acquire quality items, and we're getting fantastic prices for them too. A good return to auction life with many highs.

Imperial Auction Services

There have been no Imperial auctions recently, the hope being to build both PackIt&Go and Venditus to acquire specialist items relevant to Imperial. But Autumn has still been busy helping out in all places within the auction house, mostly booking in, but also helping out with a house clearance or two. Hopefully, we can acquire the items to make Imperial auctions regular again, but of course no guarantees of that.

Taylor & Sconce

A similar story to Imperial in many ways, with the business relying on acquiring items we have to expand and do a better job at finding those items if the customers don't come directly through us. So plans are still to have a Taylor & Sconce auction, which will of course be filled with plenty of quality items. However, the focus must still be on acquiring a consistent stream of such items.

Packit&Go

Packit&Go are a steady ship at this point, working in tandem despite their occasional bickering. But will the love boat be rocked with the arrival of our newest employee Jensen, most certainly not (Harry and Darren are very amicable people). But just going to show our ongoing focus on the house clearance operations, hopefully, the new operative can add to this well-oiled team (not literally oiled though).

Lastly, the highlight of my month, is wise words from our dedicated packer Mark;

Autumn is here, trees fall, leaves become bare,

Days are shorter, a chill in the air.

October gives us pumpkins and Halloween,

Spooky items in our catalogue may be seen.

It's not just ghosts and ghastly things,

Quality furniture, ceramics and rings.

Watches, art, and so much more,

Check out our Friday catalogue and explore.

Let's welcome our new member of the team, Jensen, sure he will be on the 'Button' (...I'll get my coat). The football season is now two months old and local rivalries with Chorley Auction House resume. Our supported clubs Blackburn, Liverpool, Chorley, and Bolton have started well (apart from Bolton!!). Don't know what is more stressful supporting Bolton, or moving house. Of which I have just done, moving closer to Chorley Auction House.
