A Review of January 2024

January 2024;

January is always a strange month, a new year with people starting anew. And also the inevitable mislabelling any dates as 2023 instead of 2024. But here we've all come back happy and refreshed from our Christmas and New Year breaks getting up to a variety of the usual shenanigans you can expect. And with a new year of course comes new ideas and new problems, all the usual in the day to day running of Chorley Auction House though.

Chorley Auction House;

The first sale of the month was a little shorter than usual, mostly hangover from the New Year's break I expect. But things only went up from there with the usual level of chaos Tuesday and Wednesday and somehow pulling it all together by Friday to deliver the much awaited catalogue. The best selling item of the month was a handwoven Persian rug which got a hammer price of £370. Quite a few rugs have had good price in the past but none as good as this, and a change from the usual Gold items that sell the best each week. Overall we improved gradually throughout the month brushing off the cobwebs etc.

Taylor and Sconce;

The quarterly Taylor and Sconce antiques sale can be difficult to acquire items for, but we have now acquired enough items to get the March sale up and running, with more information to come in the future. But like the last Taylor and Sconce auction you can expect a variety of high value and collectable items to bid on, with a few surprises in there too.

Imperial Auction Services;

We've had more consistency with our specialist sales for Imperial, with the long term goal to be able to maintain the consistency to get collectors their weekly fix of specialised items. With catalogues coming out every other week (soon to be weekly), collectors should be always on the lookout for the next auction. And a big thanks to Autumn for pulling it all together.

Packit&Go;

We never seem to have a shortage in supply of house clearance items which is a good sign that the word is getting out, and with our website going live in February we can expect an even bigger influx of quality items to put through auction as we see fit. Also soon to be expanding the team to meet these demands, so keep an eye out for a new member of the team shortly. The quote from the wonderful Mark for this month is "Too busy to be busy", truly one of the great minds of our time.
