Monthly Review - May 2024

May 2024:

May 2024 has been a successful month at Chorley Auction House, with things constantly moving in the right direction. We've sold a lot of Amber jewellery, and also had successes in the usual places - Gold, watches, coins, vinyl, and Silver. An example of this, our highest hammer price in May was An IWC Schaffhausen Ingenieur Automatic Gent's Day/Time Watch (£1200), some good prices for other watches too and Gold in general sold well. Our goals for the next few months is to gradually increase the quality of the items we sell, thus decreasing the amount of unsold lots we have and increasing the average lot price too. To bring more quality and value to customers on a regular basis. Amy who recently has been settling into the business and helping out where she can. You may have seen her if you have come to book items in with us, but if you'd like to find out more about her she has an entry on the meet the team page on our website. Another update has been the new Chorley Auction House app which allows customers to view catalogues, bid and watch the auction live, making our auctions as accessible as possible. With more features coming soon, check out the app and our social media for more information on this.

Imperial Auction Services:

Imperial has been consistently providing weekly sale as promised (thanks mostly to Autumn), focused mainly on coins. Although we've been getting good prices for coins and have a good customer base for them it would be ideal to add more variety to the specialist auctions we provide. Always good to keep customers on their toes, and to stop Autumn from getting bored.

Taylor & Sconce:

We had some success with the last antiques auction which we hope to carry on to the next, which has a date set for 19/07/2024. The process for acquiring items and setting up the auction is going forward with the plan still being for quarterly auctions, check out our social media for more updates and possibly some sneak peaks.

Packit&Go:

Business for Packit&Go has been slowly increasing, thanks to the wonderful service provided by Harry and Darren (who are now becoming a well oiled team) and all the work put in behind the scenes into the website to make it as polished and increase our standings in the SEO's. The task as always is to get more jobs and be able to then feed these items into the auction and achieve their goal of higher quality items and lots. With the work being put into making the foxhole unit a workable environment things are coming together to make Packit&Go a very efficient and successful business. And the moment you've all been waiting for, wise words from our unspoken hero Mark;

Here at Chorley Auction House some of us feel the disappointment after the football season came to an end - Liverpool missing out on a Premier League title (would have been fitting to see Klopp leave with a winning trophy). The mighty Bolton missing out on promotion after a lazy sub-standard performance ay Wembley in the play-off final, never mind, next season we welcome clubs nearly as big as us in Birmingham, Huddersfield, and Wigan. Not forgetting the once great Blackburn, good luck for next season. Also Chorley FC, such hard luck on just missing out on promotion. The disappointment just pushes us on here at the auction house - so very busy sorting and lotting for your every need. What songs would you associate with an auction, two to start; Hammer to Fall by Queen, and Money For Nothing by Dire Straits. Another thought - If cabbage is good for you, why does a Cabbage White Butterfly live no more than five days?
