Monthly Review - July 2024

July 2024:

This month we had fewer lots in the auction and lower prices towards the end of the month which is to be expected, as people wait to be paid and with more people on holiday too. But still, some good prices and surprises to be had, the best seller in July was a Toyota Yaris T Spirit car which got a hammer price of £2000. Which is to be expected, but we got some good prices for watches and military items too. An 18ct Gold pocket watch selling for £600, an Omega constellation selling for £350, a Tissot seastar selling for £150 and a WWII RAF headgear set selling for £470. So some good prices overall and the outlook is positive from all at Chorley Auction House, mostly because holidays are just around the corner for us (the last two weeks of August).

Imperial Auction Services:

More of the usual for Imperial Auction Services, although a stamp auction is in the works and the catalogue should be live now. But overall nothing to report other than Autumn putting in her usual hard work to make all the auctions possible.

Taylor and Sconce:

The much anticipated Taylor and Sconce antiques auction catalogue is now live and has taken place by the time of writing this. With a plethora of quality antiques to be seen and bid on, and plenty of registered bidders too. The Taylor and Sconce auction is becoming more regular and will hopefully see returns with more people wanting items to go through the auction and more bidders anticipating the quarterly auctions. Lots of pieces of Gold, with some lovely watches and ceramics in the catalogue too. You can check out the results on the website, but I'll leave my full thoughts until next month's update.

Packit&Go:

We've had plenty more calls and house clearances for our dedicated team to womble off to, showing that the hard work behind the scenes is paying dividends. We're even in the process of looking at new candidates to join our ever-growing house clearance team, a new womble to join the family. Darren and Harry still as happy and bickering as ever, the honeymoon period wore off relatively quickly. But the unsung hero of Packit&Go Mark has still been working hard to pack the various unusual auction items to send to customers, here are some words from the hero himself;

It's fair to say we are all looking forward to our summer break, two weeks to recharge the batteries so to say. We may be jaded but every team member devoted and focused to the auctions ahead. We will return with new vigour - next stop Christmas!

For two whole weeks we go our separate ways,

Resting, relaxing on our holidays.

Staying up late, long lie-ins,

But not on Tuesday because they empty the bins!

As a family enjoying the time together,

Visiting new faces we don't care about the weather.

We may be away - rain, wind or shine,

Don't forget our next auction catalogue is still online.
