Monthly Review - August 2024

August 2024

August is always a shorter month than most in terms of auction action, or longer from my perspective because it's our two-week summer holiday. Many adventures were had, it seems most took off to the lake district in the holiday. I went to Finland, Harry went to some exotic island, and of course, Mark doesn't believe in going on holiday. But all around much hard work and a well-earned holiday as a result. The best-selling item in August was an Omega Seamaster, which of course always sells well, in this case getting a hammer price of £700. But the biggest change is changing the structure of our general and timed auction (more information for which can be found on our social media) which was implemented starting in September. But overall a successful month and year (so far), resulting in a very earned break for the team.

Imperial Auction Services

Imperial has started to slow down on the weekly and even bi-weekly auctions, with the focus in the future being acquiring a steady stream of items that can be used to run the auctions. The auctions themselves are usually successful and have loyal bidders. With a focus and acquiring the items benefitting both the customers and us, and growing as a business with our customers. But don't worry, Autumn is still being put hard to work by Mark as usual.

Taylor & Sconce

Not much to report here, still the plan is to have quarterly antiques auctions and with work going into the marketing and branding we hope this can be delivered consistently. And of course in the long term to make the auctions even more regular than quarterly.

Packit&Go

The stream of items from the team's wombling is still constant (much to the annoyance of Geoff), but signs are good and eagerly awaiting the newest member of the house clearance team. The signs of an ever-growing and sustainable business, also easing the workload on the team. Mark is rejuvenated from his holiday and has come back with words of wisdom, they are as following;

All back from our summer vacations

Returned to our work stations.

In the blink of an eye

Summer has passed us by.

Blackpool has turned on it's annual lights

Can only mean darker nights.

Christmas decorations in the auction house can now be seen

We haven't yet had Halloween.

So as daylight hours start to recede

We are ready to cater for your every need.

Mark truly is the shining light of the auction house, make sure you give him your best wishes when he occasionally sees the sunlight.
